ALPR use and Retention Policy Manual
It is the purpose of this policy to provide Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) personnel with guidelines and principles for the collection, access, use, dissemination, retention, and purging of ALPR information to ensure that the information is used for legitimate law enforcement purposes only and that privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties of individuals are not violated. The Fair Information Practice Principles (FIPPs) form the core of the privacy framework for this policy.
